The Seven Keys

This teleconference will teach disregulated eaters and the clinicians who work with them how to identify and resolve the unconscious, underlying conflicts which may prevent ongoing “normal" eating, healthy weight stabilization, and excellent self-care. When the starting and stopping of healthy behaviors are understood as the playing out of conflictual feelings, troubled eaters have a chance to explore and resolve their ambivalence so that their intentions and behavior align permanently.

Learning Objectives:

· To understand how underlying, unconscious mixed feelings in seven key areas can prevent taking good care of the self long-term

· To identify the seven conflicts which drive on-off self-care, including eating healthfully and staying fit

· To learn how to resolve these seven key conflicts in order to promote positive permanent practices for health and fitness

Karen R. Koenig, LCSW, M.Ed., is a licensed psychotherapist, eating coach with a worldwide clientele, motivational speaker and international author who has specialized in the field of compulsive, emotional and restrictive eating for 30 years. She received a B.A. from Boston University, an M.Ed. from Antioch College and an M.S.W. from Simmons College School of Social Work. She lives, teaches and practices in Sarasota, Florida.
She is a co-founder of the Greater Boston Collaborative for Body Image and Eating Disorders and a former member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Multi-service Eating Disorder Association of Massachusetts.
