Jobs

We're a small, agile SaaS business on a mission is to make it incredibly simple for entrepreneurs to sell on the web and via social channels and get paid. We have work hubs in Sydney, Portland and Manila, Philippines. Currently there's over 90,000 sellers selling through Selz and growing fast.

We are looking for a Senior UI Developer to join our design and development team. You will be responsible for the development of exciting new store themes and features for the Selz platform.

This is a remote working position but you must be in proximity of one of our work-hubs where we have share-spaces or offices. We presently have work hubs in Sydney, Portland, Manila and Kiev. You will mainly work from home but meet up with colleagues at your local work hub regularly. We will also fly you to Sydney once per year for an annual company meet up if you can make it.

About you

You need to have these technical skills:

  • Cutting-edge modern HTML, CSS, LESS (or SASS) and JavaScript programming
  • Solid foundation of either working in Sketch or Photoshop, or designing in the browser
  • Experience with jQuery and jQuery plugins and knowledge of “vanilla” JavaScript. You’re comfortable to edit a plugin or comfortably write your own
  • A solid understanding of using Git and GitHub
  • Experience with Gulp
  • Proven ability to design and implement pixel-perfect designs so that they actually are pixel perfect
  • A great eye for detail and experience working closely with other designers to fill in the gaps
  • Extensive experience with responsive CSS, especially in the context of designing and building responsive application UIs
  • A knack for writing semantically meaningful, reusable HTML markup
  • Familiarity with building for accessibility
  • A good understanding of client-side performance tuning, security and optimization (caching, CDNs, request management, cookies, http, https, etc.)
  • A proven preference for pragmatism over dogma (you should be able to argue for or against any tech or design decision in a cogent and objective way)
  • Pro-actively identify new and emerging trends and suggest ways how we can use them
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or in a team
  • Native English speaker or very good functional English

It would be nice for you to have:

  • Exposure to the Shopify's Liquid syntax
  • Exposure to C# .NET MVC and Visual Studio
  • Exposure to Node.js
  • Exposure to NoSQL databases like Mongo
  • Knowledge of using AWS services - particularly S3 and Cloudfront
  • Knowledge of HTTP; requests, responses, headers and caching

You'll fit in if…

  • You want to be part of a team that cares about transparency, no BS, doing great work and having fun whilst you are doing it
  • You want to be part of a modern, global, rapidly expanding company that is doing something exciting
  • You’re organized and a good manager of time
  • You think and act creatively to solve problems
  • You are a good communicator and collaborator (essential as this a remote role)
  • You take things very personally and are willing to go the extra mile
