How to make your Selz Store SEO friendly with meta descriptions

Getting found on the web is critical, so Selz makes SEO easy by including a simple way to add meta descriptions to your Selz Store, categories and products. Meta descriptions are essentially your sales pitch – they are what displays in search engine results under your search results.

Adding a meta description to your Selz Store

  1. Go to your Dashboard > Store to use the Store Editor
  2. Switch from the Design tab to the Pages tab
  3. Click the settings icon for the Home page  and choose Settings
  4. You can set the Title and Description for your Home page here.

Adding a meta description to your Categories and Items

You can add a meta description to your each of your store Categories by going to your Selz dashboard and clicking on Items, then Categories.

When you’re adding or editing a new Category you’ll see in the Description section, ‘Use for meta description’ with a checkbox. All you need to do is make sure you check that box, and you’re set.

It’s slightly more advanced for product listings. Firstly, it’s important to know that to be able to add meta descriptions, titles, and custom URLs to individual product listings you will need to have our Design and Pages app. Install the app (you can try it out free for 14 days) and you’re ready to add meta descriptions to your products.

When you’re creating on editing your product click on ‘More Options’ at the bottom of the page. You’ll see there a section for SEO and all you need to do is fill out the required fields. You can add a page title, a meta description (this can be different to the product description) and a custom URL. Make sure you use search friendly terms that accurately describe your product and are likely to be in used in a search by a potential customer.

Save you’re changes and you’re done!
